Hockey is for Everyone Clinic Try Sled, Visually Impaired and Special Hockey for Free on Saturday, February 22nd from 2:10-3:10PM Sled hockey is seated ice hockey for children with physical limitations. Players use two sticks, with metal picks on the ends, to propel forward while seated in a specially adapted sled. Visually impaired hockey, features an adapted puck that makes noise, and is both bigger and slower than a traditional puck. Special Hockey provides those with developmental disabilities the opportunity to play ice hockey in an environment adapted to each athlete's level of physical and mental ability. Participants do not need any previous skating or hockey experience as this on-ice clinic will introduce the exciting sport of hockey in a fun and safe environment. During the one-hour session, participants will learn the basic skills of skating and hockey including stickhandling, passing and shooting. This session will feature on-ice instruction by USA Hockey certified coaches in partnership with CCYHA Special Hockey, Columbus Sled Hockey and Columbus Ice Hockey Club. Complimentary skate rental, an ice hockey stick and a Blue Jackets GOAL! jersey to keep.
